Even the healthiest people are subject to stress headaches, as these are hard to completely avoid. More than three-quarters of the population, in fact, gets stress/tension headaches at one time or another. It’s when you experience them often that they become a real nuisance. It’s natural to be concerned if you experience a stress headache daily, or even a couple of times per week. Since stress is at the root these headaches, getting stressed out about them is only going to worsen the problem. That’s why finding ways to let go of stress is so essential when it comes to stopping these headaches. Enjoy a nice hot bath. If you absolutely have to, a hot shower will suffice, yet a hot bath is more ideal. The bath is more optimal, as you can sit down and allow your muscles to be at ease with the pressure and warm temperature of the water. If you begin to feel stress, you should immediately fill up your tub with water and spend some needed time soaking in a bath. You can light some scented candles to help in easing your senses, shut your eyes, whatever you feel like doing. Just make sure that you give yourself at least ten to fifteen minutes (if not longer, it depends on how long you can keep the water warm) so that your muscles can truly relax. Furthermore, this provides for some ideal alone time which can also be wonderful for respite and the lessening of stress headaches.

You can better deal with stress when you understand what’s causing it. Sometimes, when we can pinpoint the things or situations that are causing us to feel stress, that is all it takes for the stress to disappear. When you’re fully conscious of what’s making you tense, anxious or fearful, you usually begin to feel better about it. Once you’ve pinpointed the source of your stress or anxiety, it becomes possible to decide what course of action to take. Once you start making actual decisions, your stress levels will go down!

Don’t keep your stress bottled up. Many people end up with stress headaches and other symptoms because of bottling up their stress. Denying the reality of your stress won’t make it go away. All that will happen is that you’ll get even more headaches or perhaps different stress symptoms. There’s no law saying you’re not allowed to experience stress. Just the simple act of letting yourself feel that anxiety and stress can be what you need to begin working through it honestly and productively. Your troubles only increase when you try to sweep them under the rug. There are all sorts of things that can cause stress headaches. Stress factors dealing with stress headaches can be very difficult to overcome. Make sure that, in addition to using the tips in this article, you are working with your doctor and a trained counselor to ensure that your stress headaches are properly diagnosed and dealt with.
